Engineering & Project Development
LCOE feasibility studies, integrated HVAC + solar system design, and independent on-site supervision — from concept through commissioning.
What we do in this pillar
Engineering a renewable energy or building efficiency project requires more than mounting panels or swapping out a boiler unit. It requires rigorous technical-economic analysis, integrated system design, and independent control during construction. That is exactly the work we do.
Technical-economic feasibility studies
Before any investment decision, you need to know whether a project is economically sustainable over its full lifetime. We produce feasibility studies that include:
- LCOE modelling (Levelized Cost of Energy) — the methodology required in Madeira's 60 MW solar tender (December 2025) and by the main funding programmes. LCOE accounts for total lifetime costs, not just upfront capital expenditure.
- Integrated system sizing — HVAC, photovoltaic, and storage systems treated as a single system rather than separate components.
- Return on investment and payback analysis — in terms that a bank, funding jury, or project partner can evaluate.
Integrated system design
Most installers size equipment independently. We size the complete system: building thermal envelope, cooling and heating loads, photovoltaic generation, battery storage, and intelligent energy management. This integrated approach is what maximises real-world performance and prevents over-dimensioning that inflates the LCOE.
For larger-scale projects — hotels, industrial facilities, grid-injection tenders — we use dynamic simulation tools, load profile analysis, and phased implementation optimisation.
Independent technical supervision
We do not sell equipment. That independence is the central point of our value proposition.
As Owner's Engineer, we represent the client's interests on site — not the installer's, not the equipment manufacturer's. In practice, this means:
- Verifying that installed materials match the project specifications.
- Controlling the execution of "invisible" but critical details: airtightness membranes, thermal bridge corrections, insulation thickness.
- Validating commissioning tests — including Blower Door testing for high-performance buildings.
- Issuing systematic inspection reports with photographic records.
- Tracking resolution of non-conformities before the final inspection sign-off.
A well-supervised project performs as designed. A poorly supervised project can lose 20–30% of expected output without anyone noticing — until it shows up on the energy bill.
Who this service is for
This pillar primarily serves promoters of renewable energy projects (60 MW tender bids, microgeneration), hotel owners and industrial facilities seeking solar self-consumption or HVAC optimisation, and construction developers targeting high-level energy certification.
